The Golden Gate Bridge is on the left of the photo, but since it was almost impossible to see while we were there there isn't much chance of you seeing it in the photo!

Thursday we are off to Las Vegas. We have a big trip to the Grand Canyon on Saturday, flying out from Vegas, Helicopter down into the canyon, Boat trip on the Colorado river, then fly back up and back to Vegas. Booked up our trip to Alcatraz for Wednesday, we wanted to do a night time tour but that wasn't available till next week, but nevermind!

This is Union Square which seems to be a fairly central place for people to come and relax, plus tons of shops around the edge. We are 3 blocks walk from here, so not too far.

We've had a very stressful week trying to get the flights sorted, we've gone from being told we can't leave till the 18th of April, then the 1st, then the 8th and then we finally get out on the 31st March!

The plane wasn't even full so I managed to spread out over 2 seats which was nice, got a bit of sleep I think. Only watched one full film (Stranger than Fiction) before getting some rest. Food on the plane was not great, but then it rarely is.

Landed early in San Fran and made it out through Customs and Immigration very quickly. Then things went downhill. Got the train, then it stopped for a bit... There was a fire by the track so there were no trains running into the city. This was not good! The train went back to the station and we got out. We were still miles from the city and no one seemed very helpful! "Ask someone else" was a typical response from most people! Finally managed to get on a bus which took us around to the next station past the fire. We then made it to the hostel about 3.5 hours after leaving the airport. It should probably of taken about 30 minutes! Nevermind though, we are here and it's really nice. Just had a quick snack dinner then a walk around a big shopping centre. I could easily fill a suitcase here!

Having a look around tomorrow, probably Alcatraz on Monday, doing a guided day tour on Tuesday, then we'll find something else for Wednesday. Off to Vegas on Thursday for the weekend, should be good!!

Things here are massively different from New Zealand, this is a proper city, unlike what NZ thinks is a city! Missing everyone though, will be much harder to meet people here as we will be moving on every few days and not travelling with anyone else.

A few photos below which came in from Louise yesterday, I've still got some more NZ photos on my camera, but that is locked away at the moment, will sort it out tomorrow!
